I tried to re-install windows because of a missing windows file. Now when
the setup begins there is an error message window that pops up "error
occurred because of cancellation of setup. Tried to re-install but has the
same message.

Install xp cd (retail),boot to xp cd,select install xp,either "repair this
copy" or
"new installation",if new,delete the partition (xp),create one,then xp
formats
& installs auto.

Is that the **exact** error message you receive?

I'm experiencing sort of the same problem. I'm trying to reinstall Windows
Live, but I'm getting the following error: OnCatalogResult: 0x80072ee6
Any idea how I can fix this?

I've tried to re-install and "setup is being restarted" It goes as far as
installation windows, then a message window pops up that an error has been
encountered that prevents setup for continuing ". "Setup failed to install
the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should
contain more information". Any suggestions out there?

I'm not sure, I would have to check. I'm trying to think back to message
errors and i keep going back to a driver possibly missing. But then again i
will verify. Thanks
