I am running Windows XP Pro
A hard drive crash recently wiped out hard drive
Hard drive reconfigured and all programs reinstalled EXCEPT
Power Point 2000 and Visio Pro 2002 will NOT
reinstall...The Program CDs are retail originals purchased
at authorized MS outlet. I receive a message that says
"original version not available...etc....", and it will not
let me reinstall.

How do I get Pwr Pt and Visio...which I paid for...back
into my desk top?

Is PPT 2000 and Visio Pro 2002 full products or upgrades? The error message
sounds like it is looking for an older version of the application.

I do not know this for a fact, but it sounds like the registry is telling
the installer that PowerPoint was installed, but it can not find it.
Perhaps the crash took out the sectors were the program resides. Because it
was installed, it can not be installed again.

Are you able to un-install PowerPoint using the office disk or add/remove
programs?

If not, you may need to use a registry editor/washer to remove all the
PowerPoint information in order to be able to re-install. I would not begin
to tell you how to do this, since poor registry editing can cause
catastrophic system failure.

I have read some good sites on registry editing, and would recommend you
doing a google search for the same.
