Reinstall in Upgrade mode - Hung

I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition selecting Upgrade.
I gave permission to include any updates that might have
been made since the setup pkge had been installed. The
setup hung with no messages during the installation of
the network. I waited for over and hour then I powererd
the machine off/on. The setup restarted at the device
driver install and completed installation within about 12
minutes.
