I have been having a graphic problem with IE6 for some time now. The browser
seems to work fine online. I can save a page (as web page complete) and all
of the graphics (i.e. links, buttons, etc.) are neatly stored in a folder of
the same name, as it should. But the problem is, when I open the saved
webpage, none of the graphics are displayed.
The saved webpage works fine when opened on any other machine or in a
different browser. And it does not matter if the graphics are stored on this
machine or on the internet. Just opening the .htm file stored on this
machine is enough to hinder the graphics display. When I right click on a
graphic and view it's properties, it reports the "file type" as "Not
Available". Opening the same page stored on the internet reports the file
type as it should.
This whole issue began while I was editing pages within my own web site on
my computer before uploading the pages, as I normally do. I viewed and
edited many pages during the same session prior to this anomaly, so I know
this is not a malicious site related problem. Still, I have run AV, spyware,
scandisk, deleted TIF, cookies, history all with no luck.
I have been trying to repair/reinstall IE6 over the past two weeks many
times without success. I even went back to IE5.5 but with no luck. The
repair feature and reinstalling IE does not seem to work. It's as if it only
checks that the files exist but not actually verifying the files are
identical.
Does anyone know how to FORCE IE6 to full reinstall without trashing the
whole system?
