Is there a 'clean', somewhat painless way to uninstall dns on a win2k server? I am studying for my win2k server exam and have been having problems with group policy. After doing MUCH reading in this newsgroup and in Microsoft's knowledgebase I have come to the conclusion that my group policy problems stem from an improperly configured DNS server. I found Microsoft KB# 237675 and I am trying to follow it but some of the steps do not seem to appear the way they are stated in the KB article. I DO NOT wish to reinstall all of win2k server, just DNS. Can this be done?

Here is the article that describes the process for reinstalling the AD zone
and DNS.

If you will post back with a little more information on your DNS and Domain
Controller configuration we might be able to help you.

A reinstall of DNS usually isn't required. The setup is pretty simple. Point the DC and all members of the domain to the DC for
DNS only. Do not point at any other DNS servers unless they too are DCs in your AD. Verify that you have a DNS zone
configured that matches the name of your AD domain. This zone needs to be set to allow dynamic updates. If you DNS domain
name is a single label domain, it doesn't include a ".com" or ".local" or ".something" on the end of it, you may need to implement
the changes outlined in 300684 Information About Configuring Windows 2000 for Domains With Single-Label
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300684.
