Hello - Help!! Have reinstalled Win XP + SP2 and all updates, but I am
getting contant errors even though the downloads were successful:-
1. Could not find file swflash.ocx.
2. Could not access network location %USERPROFILE%Desktop\
3. 1603 fatal error in installation
4. Could not find file HTML Desktop file.
These errors are related to the Windows XP operating system. I could not
find any help in the MS Windows sites.Have been trying to correct for 2
months now. My cd is 2002, would it work with a new disc? If so - Do I buy
this from Microsoft. Thanks in hope.

1) That's Adobe Flash... Nothing really to do with Windows itself.
Uninstall/install Adobe Flash from www.adobe.com.
2) That would be: %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\ - correct (notice the slash between
the second percentage sign and "Desktop")? If you can see your desktop -
you can access it.
3) For what? What were you installing when you got this mystery error?
4) huh?

Try this:

Get Dial-a-Fix:
http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix

Use its options to fix:
- Windows Installer
- Windows Update
- All the Registration Center options.

Turn off the "Empty System32\Catroot 2"
Do NOT do "Flush SoftwareDistribution".

Then click "GO" and wait until it is done... Reboot may be needed.

- Download/Install Windows Update v3.
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=91237
(You may need to install it using the command line switch "/wuforce" right
after an additional reboot - immediately after logging in.)

- Download/Install the 927891 patch.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7A81B0CD-A0B9-497E-8A89-404327772E5A

- Reboot.

- Visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and scan for/install updates.

- Come back and let us know how things went!
