A file (hostdll) was deleted by my antivirus software after being infected by the W32.Welchia worm. How do I reinstall this file and do I need to reinstall it?. My system (XP Home) is currently working fine.

Cheers

Hostdll or dllhost? Normally on a computer infected with W32.Welchia there
are 2 dllhost files. One in the Windows\System32 folder. This is the real
file that Windows normally uses. The second one is planted by the worm in
the Windows\System32\wins\ folder. It is not a normal file in Windows. Once
deleted by the antivirus program, it is not needed nor is it wanted.

Here is a link to Symantec's article about this worm:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.welchia.worm.html

May want to review the "Manual Removal" directions that the article
describes.
