Hello
I'm a "newbie" to the pc AND to pc music .... so, hope someone can help
I'm going to get some discs and I was wondering .... can the Standard CD-R
discs work just as well as the "Music CD-R's". and vice-versa??
It would help greatly if someone can get back to me soon as possible ...
it's not like I have my car keys in my hands ... lol ...

I've found no difference at all. I have well over a
thousand CD's. I buy them by seeing which store has the
best sale for a hundred pack and then go and get one pack.
I've used just about every brand and have never had any
problems with sound quality or compatibility with cd
players. As long as your cd player is relatively new. some
of the older cd playes will not play cd-r's.

There is no difference at all except for the fact that "Music CD-Rs" are
generally just a bit more expensive, because a royalty fee has been added
to their price which supposedly gets paid to recording industry artists.
Do NOT buy Music CD-Rs- buy standard CD-Rs which are exactly the same
thing but without the additional royaly fee.

Regards,
Ian.

Well, I didn't used to think so, so I went ahead and bought a nice
100 pack of cheap CD-R's (I think by imation?). They said nothing about
music on them, and sure enough - my DVD/CD-RW drive is unable to record music
on them. However, I can use a Music CD-R for my drives. the 100-pack of
cheapo's I bought are only good for storing data. So, I guess it depends on
your Drive, and on just How cheap the discs are you buy. My advice - Don't go
too cheap.

Thanks for the help guys ... I think I'll try a small pack of each and try
.... will do the same with the DVD's.
Just hope I can figure out how to burn correctly so CD will work on home
stereo as well as pc .... that's a problem I've had in the past.

"Music CD-Rs" were designed for stand-alone CD recorders (remember those?).
They are more expensive because a royalty has been added to the cost of the
disc. The discs, themselves, are identical to ones sold as PC discs.
