Does anyone have any guidelines or general advice for using
Regseeker 1.30 (Beta) This morning I downloaded it and started to
check it out. I was a little leery of actually using it due to
problems some posters to this forum have posted. In clicking through
the contents, I was surprised to see there is no onboard help file.
Are there FAQ or help files for this program? Also, when clicking on
Histories > IE History Cache Cookies (Index.dat) the following message
pops up over and over: Violation d'acces a l'adresse 00740073. Lecture
de l'adresse 00740073. (French translation from Babelfish = Violation
of access has address 00740073. Reading of address 00740073.) What on
earth does this mean?

I haven't had any problems with Regseeker on my XP computer, but that
initial sweep can be VERY daunting. I ended up removing the registry
areas by category. It does back up any keys it removes by default.

Would suggest that you make a registry and systems file backup before
starting. Scanreg for most forms of Windows, I believe. For XP, I use
erunt.zip, a 575K freeware utility.

As for cookies: They don't much bother me. I use Empty Temp Folders,
which allows me to keep a list of the cookies I want. Also has areas
for deleting history and typed URLS, checking shortcuts, etc. (and, if
so configures, empties temporary internet files up rebooting. I've
been using Regseeker strictly for the registry.
