My system doesn't boot to the log on screen but just gets to the black screen and get the message C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM MISSING OR CORRUPTED. Do you have any ideas as to how to fix this...Help.

If you have a "boot disc" try this at the c: prompt, sys c: and then hit enter. It should look like this C:\sys c: ...

Good luck....

Try a boot into Safe Mode, by hitting F8 just before the "Starting

Choose LAST GOOD.

If the problem persists, try swapping current RAM (even if it checks
good) for a single, high-quality 512Mb chip. XP reportedly is sensitive
to memory timing.
