Loaded some CD/RW software that messed up my
system.Ultimatly fixed by deleting cd registry items. Now
get the yellow info marker in device manager and can't
access my CD or DVD. Could someone please send all
regisry entries starting with cd so I can figure out what
I need to put back or let me know how to get my drives
back? (I have tried uninstalling and updating but get an
error about incorrect/incomplete registry). Can I update
the rsgistry without a re-install of XP?

Thanks IA

Each registry is unique.
Always back up the system before editing. This may help...

You might try deleting the errant entries in DEVICE MANAGER, then rebooting.

Remove the device with device manager, reboot and the
correct drivers and registry entries should be loaded.

I have had a similar problem. From out of nowhere about 3 weeks ago, I lost
my CD-RW and my DVD-ROM. They completely disappeared from the DEVICE
Manager, but I was able to see them in my registry along with a strange
entry for a "cdromSAMSUOG!" .

I tried deleting any key that had the "SAMSUOG!" tag on it, but I get a
message saying there "Was an error deleting this key, key not deleted".

So, Not all of us can use the device manager to delete the CD drives. Do you
have any familiarity with the nitty gritty of the registry?

Also, my secondary IDE controller keeps getting whacked. I get into CMOS and
set the secondary IDE master and Slave to "CDROM" and save the settings then
reboot. Still couldn't find the CD's in device manager so I rebooted to CMOS
and the Secondary IDE was set to NONE again. Any Ideas on this.

Thanks,

Jhuebner
