Before I re-installed Windows XP I could run the "Scanreg"
command which would check the registry for errors then
make a back-up which I found very handy.However,since I
have re-installed Windows this command does not work.Does
anyone know how to get it back?

System restore is your registry backup in XP.Make sure
you do a new restore point before any downloads or
changes in registry...Good luck.

Many thanks for the replies, however I would like to know
how to restore use of the command "scanreg".Thank you

XP Windows may use a different method. Right click your C drive ,select
properties, select tools and you will find what you are looking for.
