Is there a tool that will let me search my entire Registry and do a string
replace.... for example, remove my name and put another persons name in its
place. I hate to just use the normal "Find" method since there will be a
lot of replacements.

Thanks

You could export the top-level keys to a text file and use a text
editor.

But any sort of search-and-replace is very very risky, unless you
look at each potential replacement. Suppose one of your changes
happens to affect the name of a key?

Yeah I know. My main concern is to replace my name with the new owner of
the computer.
Google helped me to find "RegReplace125f", but I have not used it yet. I
simply want to get my name off of the computer. My name is in the registry
for every application that is installed too.

You think it is safe, if that is all I want to replace?

No, I do not.

I do not think *any* kind of global replace is safe, for the reason I
already gave.

In this case, it's not spread out so much that there are a gazillion places
to change; just do it manually, IMO.

I did use the string replace software and it worked great. However, it was
set to ignore DWord type. This made it much safer to use. Plus I had an
image of the system before starting therefore I could always do a restore.
It changed 356 entries (which is why I did not want to do it manually).

Thanks for the advise.
