Running XP Home SP1.

I installed some Pinnacle software on my PC recently. When it came to
uninstalling this, lots of messages appeared to the effect that "file xxx
that you are about to delete may still be required for other programs... do
you wish to delete this? Choose 'no' if you are unsure." As I *was* unsure,
I chose 'no'.

The Pinnacle folder still remains on my HD with files contained in it. These
are mainly .ax files, though there are some .dlls included.

Now, I want to install more Pnnacle software ( a different version), and as
I wish to avoid a possible conflict, is there a way, perhaps via the
registry, of deleting the old ones? But then how do I know which files are
not needed by other progs?!

Thank you!

Babs,

The uninstall messages you refer to are trying to help prevent you from un
installing common software that may be needed by other applications. As such,
un installing any software left behind might be better left to the Pinnacle
install / un install procedures. Not to deleting possibly registered dlls.

Not knowing what Pinnacle does, nor how it operates, I would simply suggest that
you contact Pinnacle Tech Support for advice in installing the new version.

They may advise you to use a cleanup procedure, or simply to install over the
old version. But I would suspect you'll need to trust their advice.

This is an application specific problem - not Windows XP specific.
