What is the purpose of this registry key?
HKLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/ContentIndex/Catalogs/System/Scope
The registry Values & Data there are:
C:\ REG_SZ ,,5
C:\Documents and Settings REG_SZ ,,5
C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\* REG_SZ ,,4
C:\Documents and Settings\*\Local Settings\* REG_SZ ,,4
After googling and reading about the Index Service it seems they have
something to do with maintaining the hidden folder:
C:\System Volume Information
but I would like to understand the 'nuts and bolts'.
I found no similar registry references for other local partitions on the
same machine so am wondering what is the purpose of this registry Key named
Scope.
CONTEXT: I have just finished relocating the C:\Documents and Settings
folder tree to another partition and in the process of synchronizing registry
references came across this group under CurrentControlSet, ControlSet001 and
ControlSet002.
My instinct told me not to change these registry Values.
