Can anyone tell me how I can get the registry fix for Disk Cleanup when it stalls in the Compress Old Files mode?

The procedure described there is equivalent to manually deleting the
registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Compress
old files
