Hey there

One of my associates have been not so lucky when trying to optimize W2K
Advanced server running a Sybase server.
He aplied a hack regarding the roder of wich some Sybase related services
start up.

After a reboot we have not been able to get it to work.
We get an saying thar services.exe error 128. 60 seconds to reboot.
Actually we can see the progress behind that errormessage, and we can almost
login before time is up and the server restarts.

We have tried recovery console, boot without network, commandprompt and
offcourse safemod.

Any sugestions on how to solve the problem.

Thanks in advance

Henrik

Using the Recovery Console, replace the approriate registry hive file
on disk from the backed up version made before you started. If you
used ntbackup.exe "ERD" (With the "Also backup..." box checked) the
backed up files are stored in
%systemroot%\repair\RegBack\
by default.
Probably the SYSTEM hive file, although what was altered is not
crystal clear from above.
