registry error 0x00000051

registry error (0x00000051).
I can use the computer gently, but this comes up regularly during the
beginning of any scan of the registry. This is a problem that is no more than
a week old. No new software has been loaded. The only thing that I can see is
Software Distribution Service 3.0 has been added during this time frame. I
thiny this is associated with a Windows update.
 
Since the problem is real recent, I'd try a system restore to a date prior
to the onset of the problem.

If that doesn't cure it, try using google.com to search for a fix.

What programme are you using to scan the Registry? Why do you feel the need
to scan the Registry?
