Win2000 Prof machine - In my registry
under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\PARALLEL
PORTS" I have 2 entries that read -
\device\parallel0 REG_SZ \dosdevices\lpt1
\device\parallel0.4 REG_SZ \dosdevices\lpt1.4

I don't understand the second entry - should it be there?
If so, please explain. If not how do I get rid of it?
Thanks in advance

this is the DOT4 entry. Many HP printers are multifunction devices and
rely on DOT4 rather than parallel. It all goes through the same hardware
but it's a different protocol.
