Listed in the Registry: HKey_currentuser\software\microsoft\windows\current
version\internet settings\zone map\domain (then names of some unsavory web
sites). Example of one, "dvd-sex.com" and the list goes on.

Question: how did they get there as I've never been to these web sites and
is it OK to delete them?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Running WindowsXP

Thank you in advance,
CC

Hi CC,

Steps to take if you have spyware that is not removed by Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware (betª)
1) Open up AntiSpywªre
2) Click Tools at the tºp
3) Click "Submit a Suspected Spyware Repºrt"
4) Fill out the form with as much detail so they can anªlyze quickly.

Have you tried the cleaning running in safe mºde?

In response for your question, see About Microsoft AntiSpyware in the Help
file

I think Engel is on the wrong track on this one.

I believe that what you are seeing is your restricted sites list.

Open Internet Explorer, and go to Tools, Internet Options
Click on the Security Tab, then click on the red icon for Restricted sites,
then click on the sites button.

Do you see that same list?

These sites were likely placed there by another antispyware program--I'm not
sure the specifics, but most likely one of the three popular freeware
ones--Lavasoft's Ad-aware, Safer Networking's Spybot Search & Destroy, or
Javacool's SpywareBlaster.

You are prevented from accidentally downloading files from these sites, even
if you simply click on an email link to a specific file, rather than going
there with a browser.

So--these sites are listed there as a protective mechanism--they are not
evidence of an infection of any kind, or of activity on the part of other
family members, etc...

Browsing in the registry can be risky business--glad you asked here first.

Bill, thank you so much for your quick repy. Always know to post my question on

this web site, quick and accurate answers.

You are so right, check the Restricted listings and yes dvd-sex.com and all
the other

unsavory listing in the registry are listed the Restricted zone.

Hopeing all of you will always be there for mine and others. Some of use
don't

know where to turn of answers to major problems or just simple question. This

site never makes me or others feel foolish to ask a question.

Happy Holidays to all.

Respectfully Yours,
CC

Bill,
Wanted to also mention the reason i was in the Registry was that Pest Patro
found trojan dialer "cgrunt.com and i wanted to verify it was there. Now
with
what you are saying, now believe this was a false positive. Could i be
correct?
Pest Patrol removed the supposed threat but i have now added it back to the
Restricted Zone sites list.

I sometimes believe Pest Patrol is more problems than it is worth and may not
renew, subcription up on 12/14/05. Could you give me your thoughts on this.

I have an arson of scanners, MSAS, SwySweeper, RootKit Revealer, Trojan
Hunter,Ad-AwareSE PRo,Spybot S&D,
Ewido(not suite), SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard & Stinger. Im not parnoid,
just
know one program is unable to detect all the garbage out there

Thank you again,
CC

Pest Patrol always indicts items in my IE ZoneMap that aren't
really present/viable threats. That's using the on-line scanner. I
have stopped double-checking it with other tools. Maybe the
full product is better, but I don't have time to chase down the
false alarms.
