I am having trouble installing IE7.
Install failed on not being able to update
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\giffile\shell\ddeexec\topic.
However, using REGEDIT via ANY account on the computer including the
Administration Account I cannot change the security on this object. Cannot
view with any account.

O/S XP SP2 up to date with all patches [except IE7!!!!]

Would like to try the SYSTEM Account but do not know how to get into it!

Help!

You will have to take ownership of the key first as administrator, then
change security.

Is loggoing on as an Administrator different than logging on in an account
with admin. rights? I am the computer owner. How do I let XP know that?

No, that would not be different in this case. But still any account with
admin rights might not have permissions to a registry key, it may be
necessary to take ownership first and then change permissions. This
happens regardless of wether you are using the built-in Administrator
account or another account with admin privileges.
