Registry configeration

My wife's cousin has just phoned and said that her computer won't
work. The error message includes the expression "registry
configuration." It now starts up in safe mode but it won't do
anything else.

She doesn't know what O/S is installed.

I am prepared to place her drive in my first machine as a slave and
write her data to a series of CD's, but is there any hope of repairing
the Registry?

Bad. If it is Windows XP, try: "How to Restore the Operating System to
a Previous State in Windows XP"
