Registration after each scan.

About a week ago, I sucked up something bad that killed my Adelphia
anti-virus and also makes me re-register/validate the MSAS on each startup.
I have run a complete scan and found nothing and also ran hijackthis with
nothing "bad" or unusual in the system. Any suggestions

That's pretty interesting--this is the first instance I've seen of "teeth"
in the "genuine validation" process involved with Microsoft Antispyware and
other such downloads.

Can you describe in more detail just what happens? I want to be sure that
this is really "genuine validation" and not some other issue.

In terms of a fix, I think I would recommend my old standby:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete \program files\microsoft antispyware and all subfolders
You will lose access to Quarantined items, history, and cutomized settings.
3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware from a current-version download, taking
care to be logged in as the administrator user who will customarily use the
product.

If Validation is, in fact involved, I'm not sure all that is needed--perhaps
just an uninstall/reinstall--or maybe a fresh download and re-validation as
part of that process?

It prompts me for all of the radio button questions as if it was a brand new
installation. IE. Do you want to become part of the Microsoft Community...
The three questions with radio button selections in the beginning. It is
like it never remembers me.

Ahh--ok--that one I am familiar with.

This set of steps has fixed it in each case for which I've received feedback
in these groups:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete \program files\microsoft antispyware and all subfolders
You will lose access to Quarantined items, history, and cutomized settings.
3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware from a current-version download, taking
care to be logged in as the administrator user who will customarily use the
product.
