Hello everyone-

I have posted this question before, but I didn't totally
get the answer I was looking for. I have a codec for the
ADS Instant DVD 2.0 that I wanted the Movie Maker to use.
Is this possible? If so is there anyone who can direct me
to the resource for going about this step by step? Thank
you!

Thank you for getting back with me. The codec is the
NW721 DV Codec. It is used by the ADS instant DVD 2.0
capture device. I want Movie Maker to use this codec for
all my media files, as this is the codec that was used to
create my video clips. Can this be done? Currently Movie
Maker stalls a bit when first showing a video clip that I
have captured. Thanks again for your help!

Jamey,

I believe that ADS Instant DVD uses the NW721 hardware DV codec to capture
DV video and encode it in MPEG format in real-time. So the captured files
you want to import into Movie Maker are MPEG files. Correct?

I don't see how Movie Maker could possibly use that hardware codec as an
MPEG decoder. Movie Maker requires a DirectShow MPEG decoder installed and
registered in order to import and decode MPEG video. And it is known for
having problems using most MPEG2 codecs.

You'll probably find some helpful information on the Importing Source
Files/Video/MPEG2 page at www.papajohn.org. Good luck.
