When I try to run RegEdit it says that the system
administrator has disabled it.. But I am the system
administrator???
==================================================================
What is the EXACT error message you get when you:
1. Click on START button
2. Click on Run...
3. Type in "regedit" (without quotes) and click OK
When was the last time you were able to enter the Registry Editor?
Is this XP Home or XP Pro?
If XP Pro, have you previously changed anything in Group Policy Editor
(gpedit.msc)?
Have you made any changes in Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Local
Security Policy?
Have you tried bringing up Registry Editor when logged on as the built-in
Administrator account?
If this is XP Home, you will only be able to logon as the built-in
Administrator account
by booting to Safe Mode.
If this is XP Pro, you can logon as the built-in Administrator account by
booting to Safe Mode
or if you are using the Welcome Screen, you can boot up normally and then do
a Ctrl+Alt+Del
twice to bring up a Username / Password prompt and type in Administrator for
the Username.
