Ron

I want to add that my platform is Windows XP, Home
Edition, and I use both I.E. and Netscape for browsing.

Thank You

If you wish to add additional information to a post you have made, please
reply to your own post. This will create a threaded conversation, and we
will be able to follow your thoughts. As it is, unless someone is reading
both your posts, we have no idea what you're talking about.

Tom, Thank you. I thought I could add info to a post as
long as I could included that info in the very next post
on the board. But know I see how a 'reply' comment will
assisst continuity and maintain a discussion 'thread'. I
also hope you can comment on my question below about R
egitry Editor. thank you

Ron, I'm sorry but I can no longer see your original post. If you have not
yet received an answer to your question, perhaps you would post it again.

Tom Swift

Thanks again Tom. The original post is repeated for you
below:
remove a virus. I succeeded in removing it but in doing
so The techy somehow had me disable my Regisrtry Editor
capabilities. Now I'm helpless to 'enable'it. I believe
I'm logged in as "administrator", not as a "guest". How
can I re-enable regedit so i can enter the registry?
..

By "disable my Registry Editor capabilities" do you mean that you can no
longer edit the registry? What happens when you try to run regedit.exe?

You must be certain that the account from which you wish to edit the
registry has administrator rights.

Seems to me that the way out is to ask PC-cillin. They're the ones who got
you into this problem. Obviously, I don't know what they told you to do.

Tom Swift

Yes Tom,
I am not *certain* it was the PCcillon tech who managed
to direct me to disable my 'administrator (I've worked
with technicians from my Cable internet provider too) but
the situation is that I'm locked out of Registry. The
message I get when I try to use 'regedit', or enter
registry in any way is; "Registry Editor has been
disabled by your administrator". If it simply means I'm
not lgging into windows as 'Administrator I'm confused,
becuase I don't believe I have any other 'guest' account
set up with lesser 'privileges'. Is there a way to
confirm I'm logging into my pc as 'Administrator'?
Also, "Taurarian", another newsgroup responder to my
question suggested I go to;>>

You can download a script here for the Registry

"Is there a way to confirm I'm logging into my pc as 'Administrator'?"

Go to Control Panel and double-click on the User Accounts icon. You will see
a list of all user accounts set up on the computer and what type of account
each is. Look at the icon for the account you are using: It should say
'Computer Administrator.'

Tom, I did what you said and indeed it looks like I'm the
Administrator. I say that because it read 'Ron,
Administrator", and when I attempted to make changes,
such as "Change the way users log in" I was allowed to
make the change. That wouldn't be the case if I wasn't
administrator.

I was able to get my Administrator 'enabled' by using
the 'VB Script' download which was provided by Taurarian
below. Many thanks for your patience and help Tom.
