....configure sound settings to be different with different programs?

I use a program called Total Recorder to play music from iTunes across an
xbox 360 extender to my television speakers. It works fine for that purpose,
but if I have something on my computer that I want to play thru my computer
speakers, it doesn't sound right unless I manually configure the sound output
to use the built-in RealTek sound card (instead of Total Recorder).

I want to know if there is anything I can do to have the Total Recorder
program be used automatically if I am playing music across the extender but
use the other sound output if playing something on the computer.

Thanks

That "something" you have on your computer can be set to use a
specific output like your PC speakers. Rightclick the "something",
if it is an executable program (has a three letter extension as
*.exe or *.com), and click "Open with.....", and select the program
you want to use. Click Apply and OK out. Then you'll have
to set that selected program to use whatever speakers you want to use.
If it is Media Player, click Tools>Options>Devices tab>under Devices
click Speakers>Properties>under Sound Playback click your selection>
Apply>OK out.
