I used to have a small reg file to switch between Sun Java and Microsoft Java. I picked it up somewhere on the net, but I lost it when I switched to a new computer.

The file was very handy and I would like to get it back. Using XP SP2. Can anyone help?

Thanks for your interest and your help. I was, however, looking for a small script file (VBS, I think) that with a double-click on the file performs the switch by making the necessary changes to the registry.

Wesley - you're a real darling - always happy, never grouchy!

I didn't mean to hunt and peck you, I just thought that you could help me find the script file - or a script file - that can do the switching between Sun Java and Microsoft Java without having to go through the Advanced tab in Windows Internet Options Control Panel.

If I had been able to find it myself, I wouldn't have asked.

Believe it or not, Jo Ann, I looked again before I growled at you in my
previous post. I couldn't find anything. ;-)

Who loves ya, baby?

Jo Ann,

First, I do not have the answer to your question right away. But:

- one way to solve -or dodge- the issue is what I do: Use IE for those
sites which require MS VM (cannot be too many of them left). I use
Netscape for all other browsing needs and it is set to use Sun's Java.
This way, I never have a conflict nor a need to switch.

- now, if you insist on being able to make that switch, the best thing I
suggest is to locate in the registry (assuming you use IE) the
corresponding setting. May be Wes can kindly help you here? Then, export
both of them as a registry key with a specific name. Lastly, just write
two small batch files which a line (or may be more than one)
------- START REGEDIT /S "location of registry key"\key.REG ---------
Of course, if it is more convenient for you, you can write a unique
batch file which offer the choice of Java.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your input. I've found the file I was looking for: "selectIEJWM.hta"
Have attached it to this message as a zip file.
