Some info just in case someone is thinking of one.
The reviews generally are positive on them. They are returned MBs that
check out OK by the manufacturer. Probably MBs RMA'd by ASuS and
others in which they claim they are OK and then resold.
I got the A7N8X Deluxe for $69 , they raised the price though to $79
probably because demand picked up for them.
The new price there is $125.
Not quite the remarkable deal it seems because its older, check the
revisions - though many are getting revision 2.0 boards now but its a
roll of the dice. Not that theres a big deal of difference with this
model concerning revision types with this board. And you get a
whitebox with no accessories at all - panel, cables, ports - like USB
and any other extra add on ports that come with the MB, manual etc.
People have posted they got theres free - a pack from ASUS.
Actually they charge $20 - so the price for me was actually $89 -
still not bad for a $125+ board if it works OK. Not earth shattering
but OK. For others especially now thats its $79+20 for accessory pack
- $99 - the $25 savings may or may not be worth it.
Warranty wise - they confirmed - ASUS that they will honor the 3 year
warranty but the person I talked to implied it ran from the beginning
the serial no was registered. So since these are refurbs - this model
was out for what ? A year or less? That may mean only 2 years are
left. With the really old boards like the KT133 and KT333 refurbs
which tend to go for $39-49 - the warranty period left may be months
or a year or so. Not sure if ASUS has accessory packs for those
really old boards too.
Im also not sure what the deal on Abit refurbs and other makes are. Do
they offer accessory packs separately ? I dont know. And I dont know
the costs.
