Hi there,

When I listen to my local radio (www.continental.com.ar) iexplorer (the
little popup with the realplayer plugin to actually play the radio)
refreshes every exactly 3 minutes and then the stream has to rebuffer,
pausing, then, for a couple of seconds every those 180 seconds.
If some of you dares to listen for 3 minutes to help me diagnose what the
problem could be, would you please go to that address and click on "click
para escuchar" just over the picture and let me know what am I doing wrong?

So many thanks

Hi,

While I admit I have not visited the site, it sounds
like the site is meta-refreshing. You can address the issue
through the following steps:

Open Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools, then Options.
Click on the Security tab.
Click on the 'Custom Level' button.
Scroll down to the 'Miscellaneous' header,
and look for the second option, "Allow META REFRESH".
Click Disable on the radio button below that.
Click on OK to close Security Settings.
Click OK to close Internet Options.
Restart your browser and see if it works.

If it doesn't, please post to this thread.

Best regards,

Altrus

Altrus,

That is the concise, clear, precise, exact and definitive answer I was
looking for already so long!

Many many thanks!

Hi,

Meta-refreshing should not be affecting the site in that
manner, unless, of course, they are not using the
meta-refresh properly.

The site you offered, www.clarin.com, does not seem to
be using meta-refresh tags, so I would suspect the problem
lies elsewhere.

Have you tried clearing you cache?

If you continue to have this problem, please reply to this
thread,

Thanks,

Altrus

It is my pleasure :-)

Thank you for the praise.

Many thanks, Altrüs, but clearing the cache won't do it.
Would you mind trying it also by deactivating meta refresh and attempting to
visit www.clarin.com?
This site also refreshes automatically every few minutes.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I did try the other site after enabling and disabling meta-refresh, but the
site loaded in both circumstances. I'm not certain why this would be an after
effect on that site.

You may consider emailing them directly - I am not fluent in Spanish, and
therefore can not be of more assistence.

What is the page that you get? A blank one, or a 404 error?

Regards,

Altrus

I just get a blank page. It says "done" at the status bar.
As soon as I enable meta refresh, even without restarting the explorer, I
hear the "click" and the site loads.

Any workaround?

Sure. View the source (e.g., Alt-V,c) extract the URL= parameter
paste that into your Address bar, fix it up if it is a relative reference
and press Enter.

In this particular case it is really straightforward and obvious:

<example>
<meta http-equiv='refresh' content='240; URL=http://www.clarin.com/'>
</example>

Good luck

Thank you,

I'm not sure why I did not see that when I viewed the source. . .
