Does anyone know of a way to refresh a users permissions without logging off
and then back on? For example if I'm connected to a customers PC and they
don't have local admin rights, I can use the "run as" option to open computer
management as an administrator and give them local admin rights, but I then
have to ask them to log off and back on..................

Any idea's on how to bypass the need to logoff and then on again (trying to
keep need for user intervention down). Ta!

Ta,

This may help. I connect remotely to a Windows XP Pro SP2 computer to
perform administrator tasks. When I am finished, I open a command prompt
window on the computer and type the command "shutdown -r". This will restart
their computer but they will still have to log back on.

That is not possible. The user needs to logoff and logon again to rebuild
their user security token that contains their group membership and can be
seen using the support tool whoami with the /groups switch. --- Steve
