I am frequenting some MS newsgroups and have to click REFRESH manually in
VIEW menu. Is there some configuration to REFRESH every 5 minutes or at a
time interval ?

I am now including this msnews. microsoft.com account for new
messages. I suppose it will forward any new message at my email
address: alan4100.comcast.net ONLY or would it send any message that
is posted on the subscribed newsgroups. I am a bit confused, but I
will wait and see how it comes out. I noticed when hitting
send/receive, it will stop at WATCHED messages at the
MSnews.microsoft.com for some time, but it appears not too long.
Wait and see.

Results are a little different for me because I'm using Outlook for mail
(the MS Office module) as opposed to Outlook Express. For me, OE is just a
newsreader with no e-mail function.

Nontheless, new messages to the news server go to the news server and not to
your inbox. The feature I described earlier is a means of refreshing the
newsgroups when checking for new messages. I apolsogize for not
anticipating this, I'm guessing the pause you describe is due to OE polling
the server for new messages which is truly unnecessary when you are only
seeking your e-mail.

although I am following you, it is bit complicated .

It is because Outlook Express's View>Current View has options like HIDE Read
Messages. It should hide all except new messages. This way only new messages
will be visible only on newsgroups.

But the subject we are covering is Tools>Accounts>News>Properites and check
for new messages. It wont read new messages from nesgroups.

I dont think Outlook for Email (MS OFFICE) will not read new messages from
newsgroups into Email either . Oh well, by the way it is too trivial to
make it all clear for me.

It's really quite simple. You asked if making this adjustment would bring
posted messages into your inbox. The answer is no. It simple means, when
Outlook Express checks for e-mail, it will also poll the news servers for
new messages. If there are new messages, the headers will be downloaded and
appear on your system when you access the specific newsgroups on that
server.
