Peter

We are using MS Word 97 and we have inserted a query
result from an Access 97 database. We have to enter the
start date and the end date for the query.

When we have inserted the fields in the Word Document, is
it possible to refresh the table so that we can use the
same word document to enter different [Start Date] and
[End Date]. I have tried pressing F9 or [Update Field]
button but do not succeed.

Your advie is sought.

I take it you're using the Insert/Database button on the
Data toolbar? In the very last step, are you activating the
checkbox that says something about inserting as a field? You
have to do this in order to have a dynamic link back to the
database, otherwise, all you have is a "snapshot" in the
form of a Word table.
