reformatting

hello all
can some one tell me if i can uninstall winme so that i
can install xp, as i have a fat32 system and can not find
the winme uninstall exe.I was told to install xp overtop
of me but heard that its better to do a clean installso
please can some one help

If you want to do a clean install just boot from the XP cd, no need to
uninstall ME because the XP cd boot will allow you to format your partition.

I would not do a clean install. An upgrade over ME generally goes well,
with one or two precautions. If it goes wrong you can still format and
install clean. Read Gary Woodruff's article on upgrading to XP at
http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpupgrad.htm. MAke sure you have adequate
hardware first


If you *do* do a clean install you do it by formatting the drive in the
course of setup - there is no 'uninstall' step first. But it would mean
you had to back up all data and reinstall all programs afterwards
