have just got a linux installed harddrive that i want to clear so i can use
it as a second drive,. master drive is running windows xp pro. any help will
be much appreciated

There are a few ways to do what you want. Open computer management | disk
management and right click the drive in question and delete the partition.
Then right click and create a new partition. Create a primary drive, then
format it as NTFS. Run chkdsk on thorough to check the drive is stable
enough to use.

Easiest option is to use Disk management from the computer management window
(Control panel>administrative tools>computer management>disk management)
Right click on the Linux partition and, as Glen suggests, delete the
original partition and then create a new one. Finally format the partition.
