Hi! I purchased a product to load analog videos into the computer to edit. Unfortunately, I am unable to get the product to work. The technical assistance for the product owner instructed me to format my hard drive. If I format my hard drive, I do not have a Windows XP to reinstall the operating system. Can someone help me?
* I need instructions to back up my operating system. (Do I need to determine my Windows XP serial number prior to doing this?)
* I need to know how to reinstall the operating system from the back up copy.
* Will the back up version have the programs I have installed also, or do I need to reinstall? (My preference may to do the reinstall).

Thanks in advance for any help on this!!!

You are going to need your CD and the key. If you reformat and restore all
your data the same problem will also be restored. if would call tech
support back. Reformat the hard drive is very extreme and tends to be the
answer from a poor technical support department!

Yup, usually when I get that from any tech I take it the same way as if
someone said, "You're an idiot, you don't deserve to own a computer, throw
it out the window cause you're too stupid to use it, go away get out of my
face."
