Reformatting and Reinstalling

I have to do a re and re and would like some help
please. I know I need to save any files on floppy discs
that I want to keep including email addresses etc but
when I go to re format the hard drive what do I do? I
don't want to get part way and find I missed something.

What makes you think so? In my view, it's extremely rare that
this is the right thing to do.

Just boot from the XP CD (make sure the BIOS is set so that the
CD is the first boot device) and follow the prompts.
