I reformated my h/d and reloaded Win xp pro, I loaded all my drivers, I checked Device Manager and under Other Devices it is showing a yellow question mark, PCI Device anybody any idea why?
The driver for a specific device needs to be installed again mate
Just try searching for the drivers manually on the sytem drivers disk or copy all system drivers to your desktop and try from there. Do you have anythin plugged in that is not working properly?
You coudl always try right clicking on that device and remove it. Reboot machine see if it finds it on its own
Hi TriplexDread thanks for your reply. I have tried to update all drivers from Device manager, I removed by right clicking when I rebooted it was the same.
Everything is working ok, other than it shuts down and then reboots whenever it feels like it, even if I am not doing anything.
What devices, if any, do you have in the pci slots? (not the pci-e slot for the video card although I assume you have loaded video drivers).
If none, then it's very likely you haven't loaded the motherboard drivers for the pci bus, which will be on the motherboard CD or available from the motherboard manufacturer's website.
Thanks mate you put me on the right path, I checked my pci slots and found a sound card, the motherboard has built in sound, I then realized I needed to go into bios and delete the motherboard sound, everything is now ok.
