Reformat HD in different computer?

Computer "A"s restore CD won't reformat the HD. Can I refomat said HD in
computer "B" using it's restore CD and re-install in computer "A"?

Both computers have their own OEM XP(with different COA's,obviously)
installed and I was wondering if this would create a problem?

Why not just add the drive as a slave (2nd) in computer B and format it
with Windows drive manager.
Then return it to "A".
