Had Win98. Upgraded to Win2000. Did not go well. Backed up
much stuff on another (husband calls "slave")drive. This
is actually a second physical drive. Went to reformat so
that i had no operating system and could install Win2000
all by itself. used 98 boot disk. Set up with 2000 set
updisks(4). Said 2000 was there but my back up drive is
GONE--the reformat skipped the 2000 C Drive and labeled
the "slave" drive as C:. Everyone said "don't
overwrite"the drive, but I think 2000 already did, tried
R2 demo-didn't show any files, Etc. So now I have a very
lousy win2000. i figure I have already lost my backup
stuff, but I still would like a properly functioning
Win2000, so that my virus scan works and I can actually
use adobe reader.
Any suggestions appreciated.

When you boot up, look at the POST screens (the black pre-operating system
screens) and enter Setup. Look and see if the computer sees the two drives.
They may need to be configured with the correct jumpers so both drives are
seen by the computer.

Also, when your pc boots up, go to Start>Programs>Admin Tools>Computer
Management. You can also right-click My Computer and choose "Manage".
Expand Storage>Disk Management. See if the two drives are seen by the OS.
