Refills for pigment based ink?

I use an Epson CX 5200 which uses the same ink cartridge as the popular
Epson C82. According to Epson, this ink is pigment based instead of dye
based. It has the advantage of not fading with age.

Are there any compatible cartridges that are filled with pigment based ink?
Or do all these re-fillers just pump the same dye based ink into all
"compatible" cartridges? One black ink fits all? How can I find out if a
refilled cartridge has pigment ink or dye ink?

Thanks for any and all help.

Read the guarantee and packing. JetTec produce the Lightfast pigmented
compatibles as below.

Some cartridges contain dye based ink others pigmented inks but the
box should clearly tell you which - if in doubt contact your supplier
first by email and they should be able to tell you (if not then find a
supplier that does!).

Some may wish to refill these cartridges and pigmented ink is
available online from some companies, but the original cartridge is
not the easiest in the world to refill -
www.printerowners.co.uk/epson2100refillguide.htm gives some guidance
as the Epson C70, C80, C82, CX5200, 2100 and 2200 all have the same
type of cartridges (even though the codes may be different).

If refilling these cartridges proves impossible you can purchase empty
refillable cartridges that are based around a sponge inside so
refilling is very easy and these cartridges are designed specifically
for the home refiller (your choice then to use dye based ink or
pigmented ink). Naturally refilling will also require a chip resetter
or the purchase of an 'always full chip'/ auto reset chip otherwise
the printer will not accept a refilled cartridge - this is the same
for all Epson chipped cartridges.

Hope this is useful.

Martin,
Try www.inksupply.com I have an Epson C82 and have had very good luck
with their cartridges. They use pigmented ink and the cartridges are refill
friendly. They seem to cater mostly to Epson users. They are an ink company
(MIS) and are a very reputable.
Good Luck.
