I went to Walgreens and was told they don't refill ANY Canon print
cartridges.

I wondered if there is some payoff going on. :-)

Can I refill that cartridge and the CLI-221BK by myself ?

Thanks,
Andy

I bought an Inktec refill kit for my (pixma) Canon black cartridge, but
I haven't had a chance to see how well it all works yet.

I also read some material online about how to go about resetting the
pixma Canon which is reporting an empty cartridge, but those
instructions didn't work for the color cartridge's emptiness which I
don't intend to refill.

Some demonstration vids and instructions say that it - refilling black
ink with inktec - all works just fine and some of them say that it doesn't.

I have another very old Canon (bjc-1000) which I can still buy black
cartridges for pretty cheaply, so I do that instead of refilling.

Old: BJC-1000
Newer: Pixma MP160

I believe they are refusing to refill the Cannon products as many or
most of them have a chip in the cartridge that has to be reset in order
for the printer to accept the refilled unit.

As for myself, I use refilled units on my HP printers, inkjet and laser
with no problems.

Too bad Cannon is going the way of the dinosaur with their printer
cartridge foolishness. Many corporate entities have been removing their
products as the refill chip issue surfaces.

Thanks to all for the replies.

I will go with the refilled unit.

I think the word that applies to Canon is "greed".

Take care,

Andy
