I had to reformat my Computers C: Drive as it was
infected with welschia worm. Whenevr i connect to net it
gave a message of " Memory at ***( some no ) was
refered .was unable to read the memory".
After that i was not able to disconnect from net.

Now as the c: drive was formatted and the OS was
reinstalled, the virus was removed and any of corrupted
system files were rinstalled.

Still the message is comin...
is it a hardware problem..

If you are not using a firewall or a virus scan program that also scans all of your
emails, then you may have been reinfected - be sure to check again for infection. I
would boot into safe mode with networking and see if problem still persists. If it
does not then some start up application/process is causing the problem and using
SpyBot Search and Destroy in advanced mode can show startup programs and give you
option to selectively disable ones similar to msconfig in W98/XP. It could be a
hardware/driver problem with the usual culprits being overheating cpu due to failing
fan/dirty heatsink, flaky ram module, or failing power supply many times due to it's
cooling fan failing. Go to your network adapter website to make sure you are using
the latest drivers for Windows 2000. It may be worth a try to replace network adapter
if nothing else helps. I have had good luck with the D-Link nics that usually can be
purchased for less than ten dollars after rebates at a place like Best Buy.
