I had to reload W2k due to a fault and when I did, all my
program groups were gone (on the start, programs
selection). Is there any way to get them back as I had
them before short of entering each one individually?

Restoring the shortcuts from a backup?

Only reply by newsgroup. If I see an email I didn't ask for, it will be
deleted without reading.

Are they automatically kept in a file somewhere that
wouldn't have been written over when reloading the OS?

No, that was your job before you reloaded the OS (making a back-up)

I didn't see the problem coming. I loaded an app and
when I went to restart as part of the installation, it
froze - wouldn't boot in normal, safe, or last known good
config mode. Not much choice but to reload the OS.
Guess I should make backups before taking any kind of
action that might result in problems - meaning every
action. Thanks for your views.
