Reducing the resolution of pictures and photos

I'm helping with the primary school web page. I have to
publifsh many photos and pictures of the work children
produce. How do I reduce the resolution of pictures and
photos and still have them clear enough to enjoy.

Rule of thumb - use external imaging editing program and Import into your
open web (images folder or whatever). Do not use FP to edit or resize your
photos - it just isn't the tool for the job.
