What I am looking for is something similar to MailWasher.
Have a number of hotmail accounts who get hit with
varying amounts of spam.
Need to delete them before downloading from the headers
Generating a Blacklist/friends list etc

Any ideas, thanks....Ian

ePrompter

http://www.eprompter.com

- - - - - - -
ePrompter automatically and simultaneously checks and retrieves your email
messages from up to sixteen password protected email accounts such as AOL,
Hotmail, Yahoo, Earthlink, Email.com, iName, Juno, Lycos, Mail.com, Mindspring,
MSN, Netscape, POP3, OneBox, Rediffmail, SBC Yahoo, Switchboard, USA.net and
hundreds of other email domains.

Once new messages have been retrieved, ePrompter notifies you which accounts
have new messages and how many new messages you have in each account.

ePrompter notification features include a unique rotating tray icon, the main
ePrompter screen, audio alerts for new messages, and a choice of five unique
screensavers that let you know at a glance the number of new messages in each
account. And with a simple click on the account of your choice, you can read,
delete or respond to any of your messages.

ePrompter gives you the ability to delete unwanted spam or suspicious looking
mail - the kind that might contain viruses - without having to launch your
email program or go to your web mail's site.

ePrompter also lets you compose and send original messages, as well as forward
or reply to your retrieved messages, again without having to launch your email
program. ePrompter also features an address book.

ePrompter is so easy to set up and use, you'll have it up and running in
minutes. One of our loyal ePrompter users, Sam McCord, put together this demo
that shows just how easy it is to set up and use ePrompter. (This may take
almost a minute to load, but you even get to hear Sam's voice!).

ePrompter checks and retrieves your Yahoo mail without you having to pay $29.95
per account to Yahoo for POP3 access or message forwarding.

This version includes the following features:

The ability to print messages.

The ability to read hyperlinks.

The ability to work with standard firewalls and proxy servers.

The ability to retain retrieved messages when a computer is turned off.

Get the latest free download by clicking on the CNET logo below. And by the
way, ePrompter just received CNET's highest rating of 5 Stars!

The latest free download (SR23) was released on 12/4/03. If you are upgrading,
be sure to completely exit ePrompter before installing the new version.

If you want to try a really good free email client & Spam remover ,
these are very good .

I can look at my mail on the ISP's server , delete ( spam removal ) ,
reply , click on links & if I want it on my comp , click on Move to >
Archive .
Use right click for some of the functions .

You can still leave any other email client installed . Just a matter
of choosing which one you want as default .

I'm trying it, me too, since yesterady.
I was happy because it did retrieve my msn.com mail.
Now it doesn't anymore, I see the asterisk, while via web I login without
any problem.
Does it work well for you, with your hotmail/msn accounts?

I am only using it on my hotmail/yahoo mail accounts
and it appears to work quite well.
Strange that it stopped working for you
Config must be correct as it was working
Uninstall/reinstall see how that goes
Let me know what you find
I use Pegasus as my main email client with my isp.
No spam there as I am very carefull who I give that address to.
Bye...Ian

Hi Ian,
I think the problem is solved :)
My solution is a little weird, however.
Because I didn't have emails in my msn/hotmail account when ePrompter was
giving that error, I tried to send to myself an email there, and ePrompter
did retrieve it! Since then, no more errors.

I find this little program very useful indeed (it's the first of this kind
that I try), because on dialup it's a pain to surf to web accounts to read
emails. In addition, my yahoo account now is working again because I can
delete the spam when arrives, without accumulating it.

Ciao e grazie,

I use Pegasus as my main email client with my isp.
No spam there as I am very carefull who I give that address to.
Bye...Ian

I also use Pegasus - and have it configured to only show me the headers (not
d/load automatically) via the "Count headers while polling but don't download"
option.

I find this the easiest way to handle Spam - I just delete the garbage off the
server before d/loading the legitimate mail and letting my filters do their
thing (moving mails to folders, etc.)...
