Ray, I see a couple of people have mentioned "Irfanview". I don't
know about the other programs mentioned, but Irfanview is freeware,
and to resize is quite easy (don't forget to "save as" after you
resize). For some reason it puts the resize in "My Documents". I
don't think it can resize more than one picture at a time.
But here is one that will resize all JPGs in the folder at once quite
easily. It is a program for making thumbnails, but you can put any
size in there. For example, convert 1600 x 1200 or 1024 x 768 JPGs
down to 640 x 480 sized JPGs. The program is freeware & is called:
"Easy Thumbnails"
When you resize, don't change any of the settings except the maximum
height & width you want to end up with - if you change the "quality"
setting up, like up to 100% quality, the resized files will have much
higher KBs in size than if you leave it alone & it sizes the KBs down
with the dimensions (I think it is default set to 87%). I see no
difference when viewing a file when selecting higher than the default
setting.
Select one picture in the folder and it will display. Then choose
"Make all", not "Make" to do all JPGs in the folder. In a few seconds
they'll all be done.
The program will add by default "tn_" to the beginning of the resized
filenames, thus not copying over the old ones - and you can change the
"tn_" to whatever you want. But if you remove the underscore it will
not use the original name with the resized files, but will rename the
files, for example using "OK", to OK1, OK2, OK3, OK4, etc etc.
