Hi

Anyone have any information about files: data miner and or RedSherrif
Tracking Cookie. I had illegal and error warnings in trying to open various
applications. detected cookies associated with these names. The keep
coming back and I have to keep deleting them?

These are cookies put onto you system by web sites. Usually shopping
sites or similar so that they can keep track of what is in your
shopping basket as you browse the site.
However, some cookies can allow sites to track you browsing habits
etc.
Running adaware

will delete these cookies and other spyware, but the cookies will re
appear next time that you use the site. They are generally not a
problem, whereas trojans and other malware, which Adaware will also
find, can be.
Also it is a good idea to run a good anti virus program on your
machine AVG is a free one

And also a good firewall such as Zone Alarm.

Ensure that these programs are up to date with the update button and
then run them.

i too just ran lavsofts ad ware, it found the redsherrif redsheriff
tracking cookie, cant find much info on it, or what site gave it to
me, but i will keep scanning over the next several days associated
with my surfing habits, if i can make a connection, i will post it
here.

it also found mediaplayer unique id (of wich it says is a security
issue and may indicate my pc has been compromised.)
