For some users in a OU I want them to have the same desktop so I created a
share on the AD server and a dir. desktops on it.
Then I set on the GPMC (win2003) on user configuration - windows settings -
folder redirection - desktop, the share and checked for the right userrights
on that share.
When I login with a user of the OU the desktop is just a default, not from
the server.
If I set to hide "My Computer" or "Networkenvironment" icon for that OU, it
will take place.
What do I do wrong with the desktop setting ?

PS. I logged in with one user in that OU and checked 'gpresult /v' and get
as result "N/A" on the setting "folder redirection". GPUPDATE /force did not
help.

In the Group Policy Object that contains the folder redirection settings,
under User Configuration > Windows Settings > Folder redirection,
right-click Desktop and then select Properties. On the Settings tab make
sure the box next to Grant the user exclusive rights to Desktop is
unchecked.

Also make sure that users have the necessary permissions on the
share/directory you created.

That box is unchecked by now but doesn't effect the problem.
the userrights/ permissions will correct because I can reach the folder on
the server in the explorer
\\darwin\desktops\ is reachable.

gpresult keeps saying "N/A" on Folder Redirection.

Hmmm...and the GPO that you configured the policy to hide My Computer is the
same GPO that folder redirection is configured in?

Also, are there any errors in the Application log on the client?

Mike

Yep, that's the same policy.
I received one error on the appl. log:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Folder Redirection
Event Category: None
Event ID: 301
Date: 2/19/2004
Time: 4:06:40 PM
User: SELLMARK\test
Computer: P3-800
Description:
Folder redirection policy application has been delayed until the next logon
because the group policy logon optimization is in effect.
