Hello,

I recently connected a piece of hardware on my computer.
Windows XP detected it and asked me for the drivers. At
the moment I didn't have the drivers so I cancelled the
dialog box. XP then asked me if I no longer wanted to be
notified that the hardware is detected and to be promted
for drivers. I accidently said I no longer wanted to be
notified. Now that I have the drivers I'm not able to
correctly install them because the hardware isnt detected
anymore. I went to the device manager and I couldn't
find the device. I even looked at the hidden devices and
no luck either. How may I re-enable the detection for
that device? The device is still in the registry.

Thanks ahead of time,

Under the view menu at the top select to view hidden devices, check under
you "other devices" tab and see if there is a device with a questions mark.
Remove that and then rescan for changes.

Hope this helps.

Should be able to do it Control Panel. Click on Add
Hardware to start the detection of new devices. If that
don't work remove the device, boot PC, shut down,
reinstall device, and then reboot.

Rene, just physically remove the device from your computer. Restart without
it and then shutdown. Reinstall the device
and see if WinXP sees it again. If the device is still in the Registry you
can delete it before performing the above procedure.
